3 killed in road crashes
Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Pabna and Thakurgaon in last two days.
Our correspondent in Satkhira reports: One person was killed in a road accident in front of Kulia Madrasha at Debhata upazila on Satkhira-Kaliganj road in Satkhira yesterday.
The dead was identified as Azihar Rahman, 60, of Kulia village in Debhata upazila.
Quoting locals police said the accident occurred when an engine-van hit Azihar while he was crossing the road, leaving him seriously injured.
He was taken to Shakhipur hospital where the doctor on-duty declared him dead.
Our correspondent in Pabna adds: A schoolgirl was killed when a speeding truck rammed her at Nandanpur village in Santhia upazila in Pabna on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Eti Khatun, 8, daughter of Idris Ali Mondol of Nandanpur village. She was a student of local primary school.
Police and locals said the accident occurred when a speeding truck rammed Eti while she was crossing the road.
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon adds: A youth was crushed under the wheels of a speeding bus in front of Kazi Feed Mill at Salondar village on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway in Thakurgaon sadar upazila yesterday.
The victim was identified as Sohel, 16, son of Soybur Rahaman of Konpara village under sadar upazila.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred when a Panchagarh-bound passenger bus run over the youth while he was standing alongside the road at 10:30am, leaving him death on the spot.
Following the accident locals and the feed mill workers put a barricade on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh road for two hours demanding arrest of the bus driver and compensation for the victim's family.
