Narsingdi men besiege PS to protest death in custody
Locals laid a siege to Shibpur Police Station in Narsingdi this afternoon protesting death of a 25-year-old man in police custody.
Mohsin, a day labourer of Baroigaon village in Shibpur upazila, was arrested at his home last night by law enforcers led by Monir-uz-Zaman, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of the police station, family members told our Narsingdi correspondent.
Later, he was tortured to death as part of a conspiracy to kill him, alleged Sanaullah, a cousin of the deceased.
Meanwhile, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, OC of the police station, said: “Mohsin was an accused in a robbery case. He committed suicide by hanging himself inside the lockup at the police station around 3:00am.”
The body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police prevented photojournalists while tried to take photos of the body at the morgue.
