Nandonik brings its new production on stage
Nandonik Nattyo Shamprodaye will stage their 16th production, “Moha Bidroho O Samrat Bahadur Shah” on June 6 at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The play has been scripted by Rahman Chowdhury, while Goalm Sarwar and A.M.M Hasanuzzaman have jointly directed it.
The plot of the play explores the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny and Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah's role in the first rebellion against British rule. Though the rebellion ignited on account of Enfield rifle cartridges, the main reason was the oppression and misrule of the East India Company.
“This play correlates with the contemporary socio-political scenario for which we decided to bring it on stage,” said A.M.M Hasanuzzaman, leader of the theatre troupe.
The light design of the play is by Thandu Rayhan. A.M.M Hasanuzzaman, Nilufar Wahid Papri, Shah Alam, Sohel Rana and many others form the cast.
