Mime-dramas on labour awareness staged
Nithor Mahboob, a well-known mime artiste of the country, has made two mime-dramas aimed at raising awareness among warehouse workers, about various safety issues. The plays, in which Nithor acted along with three actors of Mime Art – Faisal, Tutul and Shuvo, were staged at the warehouse of British-American Tobacco, Bangladesh (BATB) on Sunday. One of the plays focused on the safety concerns while handling heavy loads and the other focused on the hazards of carrying excess load on forklifts and necessary precautionary measures.
Nithor said it was a great experience to perform for the workers and thanked BATB for the opportunity. He further said mime is a catchy performance media, so a number of organisations are thinking about utilizing it. He however lamented that the art-form is neglected on TV because the faces of the artistes are concealed in makeup.
