Jahangir Hossain is a talented artist, and his latest exhibition is a must-see for every connoisseur of modern Bangladeshi paintings. The opening ceremony is scheduled for today, Tuesday, at 5PM. Giuseppe Semenza, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Italy, Rubana Huq, MD of Mohammadi Group, and artist Jamal Ahmed are expected to be present on the occasion.

The notion of 'appropriation' by writers is of great interest in modern literary circles. Accordingly a panel discussion will take place at Gourmet Bazar Banani on 13 April at 5PM featuring some of our most exciting writers who will engage in a broad discussion covering appropriation in the areas of race, time, gender, place and culture while also reading excerpts from their works which throw light on these topics.

The panel speakers shall include Shazia Omar, author of Like a Diamond, Intentional Smile and Dark Diamond; Saad Z Hossain, author of Escape from Baghdad and Djinn City — books which have been favourably reviewed worldwide including by the Financial Times. Another participant will be Salahdin Imam, the author of Diana Juxtaposed and Other Unrealities.
