The emergence of Bangladesh
The 1970 general election to the National Assembly of Pakistan resulted in Awami League's overwhelming majority, thus, the rights to form the government. The then President Yahya Khan in a broadcast announcement declared Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the prime minister-elect. However, Pakistan People's Party's chief, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, irrationally argued that since his party won majority seats in West Pakistan he should become the prime minister of West Pakistan. He then conspired with army generals of West Pakistan. As part of the conspiracy, General Tikka Khan was made governor of East Pakistan.
But nothing could stop the liberation of Bangladesh as the people's dream for independence eventually became a reality. The conspiracy to reverse the democratic will of the people did not work back then. It will not work now, nor in the future.
