Save the tigers

Tiger census
Bengal Tiger. Star File Photo

In the Sundarbans, the sight of a tiger is very rare these days. The number of the world-famous tigers of the Sundarbans is declining at a fast rate. According to the tiger census report, there were only 106 tigers in Bangladesh's part of the Sundarbans in 2015. Bangladesh's share of the Sundarbans is larger than that of India. Yet, tigers in the Indian portion of the Sundarbans outnumber those in Bangladesh. This indicates that we have not taken enough measures to make the Sundarbans a safe haven for tigers and other wildlife.

As a student of animal science, I would like to request the ministry of environment and forests to take stern actions to conserve the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers.
