Yet another mass shooting in the US

In a rather familiar but tragic development in the US, yet another mass shooting took place on November 7, barely 24 hours or so after the nation's midterm elections ended. The ghastly incident in California took the lives of 13 individuals, including the shooter himself.

Gun violence is a common incident in the US but attempts to reduce it by tightening the country's gun control policy have repeatedly faltered, thanks to the controversy surrounding the issue and the influence wielded by the National Rifle Association (NRA), which represents the gun owners. Innocent people continue to suffer as a result of that.

Terror attacks and such shooting incidents should have no place in a modern country. The US should know that the tragedy of mass shootings is one brought upon itself by its own policy, or lack thereof. By refusing to acknowledge the gravity of the problem and not doing enough about it, it has made itself a frequent subject of such shootings. The country should consider taking a decisive step against gun violence.
