'JP not a partner of govt'
The main opposition Jatiya Party will not shoulder the responsibility of misdeeds by the Awami League-led government as the party is no longer its 'partner’, a senior JP leader said today.
“It will not take the responsibilities of the government’s corruptions, misrule, enforced disappearance and killings,” JP Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said while addressing a press conference at its Banani office this morning, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
“We are now in the government only due to some tactical reasons,” the daily said quoting Bablu.
Asked about the JP members now in cabinet, the secretary general said it is not a factor as there are only three party representatives in the 50-member cabinet.
“We are with the government with a different context. Message dissemination is our aim,” Bablu said defending his remarks.
There was chaos everywhere in the country before the January 5 polls, he said adding, “People that time sought peace, comfort and security. We had joined the poll to unite the nation.”
Bablu announced that his party will hold a grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on next January 1 marking JP’s 29 founding anniversary.
