Journos for independent broadcast commission
A faction of Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union (BFUJ) today urged the government not to implement any provision of the national broadcast policy until formation of an independent broadcast commission.
Speaking a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital, union leaders demanded immediate formation of the commission to implement the policy for television and radio.
They expressed concern over not mentioning any timeframe in the policy to form the commission and giving the information ministry the authority to apply the policy before it.
BFUJ president Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul explained their position and negative sides of the policy, which the weekly cabinet gave approval on August 3.
