Job applicants besiege Brahmanbaria gas office
Angry candidates who were selected for vacant posts of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited besieged its head office in Brahmanbaria today demanding appointment.
All of the 143 candidates paraded up to the office and locked up its main gate around 7:30am, witnesses said. They were demanding their appointment letters.
The head office of the BGFCL group could not run properly today because most of the employees were barred by the protestors from entering the office.
The High Court ordered the authorities to give appointment letters to the candidates, moved by a writ petition on June 23 this year.
Protestors allege that the company was yet to comply.
Earlier on October 30, the protestors had staged demonstrations and blocked the main gate of the BGFCL head office for this reason.
They allege that the group selected 143 candidates after written and other examinations on April 8, 2011. But, their appointment letters were not given since.
Contacted, Md Nurul Absar, managing director of BGFCL, said they forwarded the HC directive to attorney general for clarification and proper steps in this regard will be taken soon.
