Jessore Jubo League man’s death in BCL attack sparks protest
A Jubo League activist of Jessore, who was injured in an attack by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League four days back, died at a hospital in Dhaka today.
Protesting his death, fellows of Tozammel Haque alias Tozam, 44, a Jubo League activist of Sharsha upazila unit, attacked the house of BCL president of the unit Abdur Rashim Sardar at Burujbagan village, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The agitating Jubo League men torched a motorcycle and furniture of the house during the attack.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Tozam came under attack on Thursday following a village arbitration, the daily reports quoting Shadidar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.
He was first admitted to a local health complex and then shifted to Jessore General Hospital in critical condition. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to a private hospital in Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries.
