JCO, sergeant posts of Armed forces upgraded
The government has upgraded the status and salaries of Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and Sergeant of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air forces with effect from April 1.
As per the decision, JSC post has been uplifted to grade-I [non-cadre] from grade-II while sergeant post to grade-II from grade-III, says an Inter Services Public Relations press release.
There would be changes of the salary structure and rank only, it said adding that all administrative, operational rules and regulations would remain continuous and unchanged as per the organizational structure.
In the armed forces, one can be JCO after serving the forces at least 20 years with skill and efficiency and sergeant after serving at least 12 years said an army source adding that with the government decision there would be equity among the same ranked officer in the armed forces and police.
In April last year the government upgraded the post and salaries of Police Inspector to grade-I from grade –II and sub-inspector and sergeants to grade-II from grade-III.
