Jamaat calls hartal in Bogra for Thursday

Jamaat-e-Islami has called a daylong hartal in Bogra for Thursday protesting the arrest of its 77 leaders and activists, including party district unit chief Shahabuddin.  

Abu Bakar Siddique, publicity secretary of Jamaat district unit, announced the shutdown today through a press release, reports our Bogra correspondent.

The arrest was made during separate drives in 12 upazilas of the district from Tuesday midnight to early Wednesday.

A total of 77 leaders and activists of Jamaat, the key ally of the BNP, were arrested in the drives conducted by the members of the joint forces.
