Inqilab news editor gets bail from HC
The High Court yesterday granted six months' ad-interim bail to Rabiulla Rabi, news editor of the Inqilab, in a case filed by a police officer for running a report in the Bangla daily against him.
Police arrested Rabi on August 19 last year hours after Praloy Kumar Joarder, acting assistant inspector general of police, filed the case under the information and communications technology act against Rabi and Editor and Publisher AMM Bahauddin, City Editor Sakhawat Hossain Badsha and the reporter concerned.
The report headlined “A police official enjoying unchallenged authority using the prime minister's name.” was published in its online and its print editions on August 18 last year.
Deputy Attorney General Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star that the government will move an appeal before the Supreme Court seeking a stay order on the bail.
