Hasina worst autocrat in the world: Fakhrul
Terming Sheikh Hasina regime “the worst ever autocratic one” in the world, BNP today said the party has lost its faith in the apex court as it has turned down Khaleda Zia’s leave to appeal petitions challenging the trial of graft cases against her in a lower court.
“We went to the Supreme Court with leave to appeals challenging the false trials against our leader [Khaleda]. However, the court has rejected our pleas. We are not frustrated, we are aggrieved and our trust on the apex court has shattered,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He was addressing at a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka arranged by the student’s leaders of Ducsu and all party student unity of the 90’s marking the 24th death anniversary of Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon.
Criticising the ruling party leaders for their remarks that people has accepted the January 5 polls and the current government; Fakhrul said no foreign country endorsed this government let alone the country’s people.
He urged the government to test its popularity if it thinks that people are with them through holding an election under a non-party administration.
“I personally can guarantee that I will quit politics if people don’t vote us,” he added.
The BNP spokesperson alleged that the government has taken control on the all the state institutions including administration and judiciary in a bid to establish one party Baksal rule in disguise of democracy.
Fakhrul said the present government is worse than HM Ershad’s autocratic regime and that the country’s present situation is much more unbearable than that time.
“Awami League is the national betrayer. They cheated the nation by holding a farcical and voter less election on January 5 and grabbed the state power snatching people’s voting and all others rights,” he added.
