Hasina, Modi to meet in New York Sept 27
In a bid to take bilateral relations to a new height through solving pending issues, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will hold a crucial meeting in New York on September 27.
Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque today confirmed about the first-ever Hasina-Modi meeting since the BJP assumed power in May through overwhelming victory.
He said the two prime ministers are expected to meet on September 27 on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Haque, however, did not elaborate further on the matter.
Diplomatic sources said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for New York on September 21 to attend the UNGA, which will begin its session on September 16.
The two prime ministers are also expected to meet again in November at the 18th Saarc Summit on November 26-27 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Meanwhile, ahead of Hasina-Mondi meeting in New York, foreign ministers of Bangladesh and India will meet in New Delhi on September 20 when the two capitals will discuss a wide range of bilateral issues.
