Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered explosive substances, crude bombs and machetes from a shop in Swarupnagar area of the district town early yesterday and arrested three people in this connection.
The arrestees are shop owner Mohammad Ali, 57, son of Afsaruzzama and Rabiul Alam, 33, son of Abdus Salam of Swarupnagar area and Abul Kalam Azad, 33, son of Abdul Hamid of Lakherajpara area in the town.
On a secret information, a Rab team went to the upazila parishad market in Swarupnagar area at around 12:30am, broke the lock of shop No. 33. They entered the shop and recovered 4.7 kg explosive substances including gunpowder and gel, 17 hand made bombs and 11 machetes.
In Kushtia, Rab-5 arrested four alleged arms peddlers and recovered arms and ammunitions in the district town on Wednesday, reports our correspondent.
They recovered a foreign made pistol, one revolver, an India made shutter gun and 10 bullets from their possession.
