Gotham: David Mazouz is Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova to play Selina Kyle
FOX's Gotham keeps looking better and better, as more cast members are announced. Producer Warner Bros. TV has named the actors who will portray young versions of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, before they become Batman and Catwoman. David Mazouz, the 13-year-old former star of "Touch," will play Bruce Wayne as a preteen, "sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Serious and soulful, young Bruce relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon." Selina Kyle will be played by Camren Bicondova. The character is described as "a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she's dangerous when cornered." What's interesting about Bicondova is she's got a bit of a young Michelle Pfeiffer look going on. Pfeiffer, of course, played arguably the best Catwoman in "Batman Returns." Mazouz and Bicondova are the last two series regulars for "Gotham," which also stars Ben Mackenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sean Pertwee, Zabryna Guevara and Erin Richards. It's slated for FOX's 2014-15 schedule.
Liam Neeson gave up chance to play Bond for wife
Irish actor Liam Neeson has revealed that he turned down the chance to play James Bond because his then-girlfriend Natasha Richardson told him that she would not marry him if he accepted the role. The 61-year-old actor, who came to the limelight for his work in Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar winner Schindler's List, said that he was heavily courted for the iconic 007 role 19 years ago. "I was heavily courted, let's put it that way, and I'm sure some other actors were too. It was about 18 or 19 years ago and my wife-to-be said, 'If you play James Bond we're not getting married!' And I had to take that on board, because I did want to marry her," he said. The couple tied the knot in 1994 and became parents to sons Michael, 18, and Daniel, 17, before Natasha tragically died following a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada, in March 2009.
Aditya Pancholi physically abused Kangana Ranaut?
Her professional life may be going great, especially after films like Krrish 3 and Queen, but Kangana Ranaut's personal life is far from smooth. Kangana Ranaut was a struggler when she met film actor Aditya Pancholi. The two soon fell in love and were allegedly in a relationship, in spite of their huge age gap (almost 20 years) and the fact that Aditya was a married man with two children. Things seemed to turn tumultuous and Aditya was even allegedly accused of physically abusing Kangana. They made their appearance together at events and even film awards and seemed to be quite open about their relationship. But things went kaput and the two parted ways. Aditya Pancholi was rumoured to have paid a huge amount to Kangana in order for her to buy her house. He apparently even paid for her sister's hospital bills when she became a victim of a cruel acid attack. At a press conference, when asked by media persons about her former boyfriend, the actress replied saying that there was a time when she and Aditya Pancholi knew each other well but does not talk to him any longer.
Shabana Azmi lauds new filmmakers' unusual films, portrayal of women
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi appreciates the new breed of filmmakers for touching upon "unusual" subjects in their films and "great" portrayal of women. In an interesting session at the FICCI Frames 2014 on "The Film That Changed My Life" several celebrities shared their views and Shabana too participated in it. "One film that changed my life was Mahesh Bhatt's Arth. After we completed the film, we showed it to the distributors and the producers. They liked the film but they asked us to change the end. But me and Mahesh insisted that we will not change the end and then the way the film did both commercially and artistically was great," Shabana told reporters during the press meet at FICCI Frames 2014. The Arth climax sees Shabana's character leaving her husband, who cheats on her, to make a new beginning, which was something unusual to see in films in 1980s. "I feel there is a change and especially the new filmmakers are making some unusual films especially with the way men regard women is great." Other celebrities, who participated in the session, were Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ayan Mukerji, Subhash Ghai and Amol Gupte as well as Liz Shackleton, Asia Editor, Screen International. When asked, Anupam too named Mahesh Bhatt-directed Saaransh.
