Girl, college boy rescued a day into abduction
A minor schoolgirl and a college boy, abducted in Jamalpur and Jessore districts on Wednesday, were rescued yesterday.
In Jamalpur, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued a six-year-old abducted girl from Biyara Bazar in Sadar upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.
One Laboni, 40, wife of Anwar Hossain of Gopinathpur in Sarishabari upazila, entered the house of the class one student of the town for rent a room and abducted the girl on Wednesday afternoon.
She later demanded Tk two lakh as ransom from the family for her release over mobile phone, Anisuzzaman, camp commander of Rab-12, told the newsmen at his office.
The parents of the girl then informed Rab men about the matter, he said.
After tracking the mobile call lists, the elite force raided Biyara Bazar and rescued the girl.
They also arrested the woman from the spot, said the Rab official.
Away in Jessore, Tauhidur Rahman, 17, a student of Bir Shereshta Noor Mohammad Government College, abducted at Sharatala Bazar on Wednesday night, was rescued from the town early yesterday, reports our Benapole correspondent.
Tauhidur Rahman, uncle of the victim, said a gang in a microbus abducted his nephew at gunpoint around 10:00pm.
Being informed, a police team in a drive rescued the boy from the area early yesterday.
At this, his hands and legs were tied, said Shahidar Rahman, officer in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.
However, none was arrested in this connection, said the OC.
Meanwhile, police are yet to rescue a college girl, who was abducted from Halmajhipara village in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur on November.
The 18-year-old girl, daughter of Ansar Ali of the village, is an HSC second-year student at Gangachara Mohila Degree College, reports our correspondent.
Police quoted victim's family members as saying that local vagabond Babul Islam, son Shaidar Rahman of the village used to stalk the girl on her way to and from college for long.
Recently her family members complained the matter to Babul's parents. Being aggrieved with the complaint Babul threatened the girl to kidnap her.
Feared by the threat, the girl's parents hurriedly married her off to Abdul Quddus, 27, son of Abdul Halim, a resident of Munshipara village of the upazila on November 1.
On November 8, around 9:30am, a gang of 4/5 youths led by Bulbul, abducted the girl on her way to the college.
Ansar Ali, father of the victim filed an abduction case with Gangachara Model Police Station on November 11 accusing Bulbul and 4/5 unnamed youths.
Police, however, yet to arrest any of the abductors or rescue the college girl.
Rezaul Islam Bosunia, sub-inspector and also investigation officer (IO) of the case, said they are trying hard to rescue the girl.
