Dinajpur Boiler Blast: 2 more deaths take death toll to 15
Two more persons succumbed to their injuries in the last 24 hours or so following a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Dinajpur sadar upazila on the night of April 19, bringing the death toll to 15.
Both from Kalikapur village, Mazedur Rahman, 45, passed away around 11:50pm on Tuesday and Enamul Haq around noon yesterday.
Five persons remain in critical condition in Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur.
Of the initial 30 people injured in the explosion at Jamuna Automatic Rice Mill in Gopalganj village around 11:30pm on April 19, the condition of 21 was critical.
Two persons died that night and another the following day. Nine persons passed away on April 23 and another death the next day took the count to 13.
Modina Begum, wife of one of the victims, Md Ripon, filed a murder case with Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Police Station on Sunday accusing three persons, including the mill's owner Subal Ghosh and the boiler operator.
None has been arrested till filing of this report yesterday.
A boiler inspector, Humayun Kabir, told The Daily Star said the mill opened without any inspection on April 17 on staying closed for three months.
