A fire broke out today at the Phoenix Spinning Mill in Bolibhodro Bazaar area of Ashulia on the outskirts of the capital.
The fire broke out from unknown causes around 8:30pm from a corner of the factory. The workers at the factory immediately tried to bring the blaze under control and informed the EZP fire station.
The fire was under control but not completely doused at the time of filing the report, our Savar correspondent reports.
It was taking time to douse the fire since the mill worked with cotton, said Sabbir Ahmed, station officer of EPZ fire station.
Five workers from the factory were injured or suffocated trying to put out the fire and were receiving first aid.
Although the cause of the blaze could not be determined, it is expected it was caused from an electric short-circuit.
