A fire broke out at a readymade garment factory in Mirpur-1 of Dhaka this afternoon.
The fire originated around 5:45pm at the storeroom of Cordial Design Ltd housed on the third floor of an eight-storey building at Shah Ali Bagh area of Sector-1, Mirpur, Abdul Halim, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star
Twelve units of firefighters brought the blaze under control around 6:22pm after over half an hour of their effort.
A few numbers of workers were still remained in the factory as they were working overtime when the fire broke out, the fire service official.
Later, the firefighters and locals rescued the workers, who took shelter on the rooftop of the factory, from nearby buildings.
The fire official however could not ascertain the cause of the fire and the losses immediately.
