Experts seek tough punishment for question paper leak
The government will have to formulate a law with a provision of tough punishment for leaking public examination question papers, education experts said today.
The experts came up with the recommendation during a meeting with Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at secretariat in the capital.
Emerging from the meeting, Prof Zafar Iqbal told reporters that they want hard punishment if anyone commits such crime.
The experts’ move came in the wake of criticism following the recent leak of question papers in public examinations.
The educationists also urged the government to enhance use of information technology in publishing question paper system, the education minister said at a press briefing after the meeting.
Two things the government has to do -- identifying the culprits who are responsible for question paper leak and ensuring that such kind of crime would not repeat in future, Nahid said.
The meeting was held for improving the education system, the minister said.
The present government will try to establish qualitative education system in its tenure, Nahid added.
Regarding this, the government needs sincere teachers, he said.
Experts already prepared a recommendation report to submit his ministry, he told the reporters.
The minister thanked the education experts who attended the meeting.
Economist Rehman Subhan, Prof Anisuzzaman, Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed and Dr Salehuddin Ahmed were, among others at the meeting.
