Three exciting movies set to release post-Eid
The tradition of releasing movies during Eid festivities continues to thrive, with "Priyotoma" and "Shurongo" gaining considerable success across multiplexes and single screens. Now, the excitement builds around three highly anticipated releases that are set to hit the big screens this August.
The full-length children's film "Mike" is slated to be released on August 11, according to Bangladesh Film Producers and Distributors Association sources.
The government-granted film, drawing inspiration from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic March 7 speech, is a collaborative effort led by FM Shaheen and Hasan Zafarul Vipul.
Actors Ferdous Ahmed and Tanveen Sweety acted as a pair in "Mike".
Noted actress and playwright Hridi Huq is all set to make her directorial debut with the much-anticipated government-granted film, "1971 Shei Shob Din", which depicts the gripping narrative of Bangladesh's Liberation War.
Apart from directing, Hridi Huq herself features in "1971 Shei Shob Din", alongside a talented ensemble cast comprising of Mamunur Rashid, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Munmun Ahmed, Shilpi Sharkar Apu, Ferdous, Tareen, Litu Anam, Saju Khadem, Sanjida Preeti, and many more. Notably, Litu Anam makes a remarkable comeback to cinema with this film after a hiatus of 15 years.
The icing on the cake is the grand-scale production, "MR-9: Do or Die", slated to release in three countries, including Bangladesh, on August 25.
The film is inspired by the iconic detective character Masud Rana from Qazi Anwar Hussain's series, "Dhongsho Pahar". Helmed by Bangladeshi-born Hollywood director and actor Asif Akbar, "MR-9" is jointly produced by Jaaz Multimedia and Silver Nine.
The film stars ABM Sumon, Frank Grillo, Sakshi Pradhan, Michael Jai White, and Niko Foster, among others, among others.
