An 'Ekushey Padak' winning photo journalist, who served as chief photographer of Bangla newspaper Daily Ittefaq, was strangled at his house in Rampura early today.

The body of Aftab Ahmed, 79, was recovered around noon from his Wapda Road house.

The miscreants tied his hands and legs before killing Ahmed, who used to live alone in the house, said Kripa Sindhu Bala, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station.

A part-time maid servant, who used to do the household chores of the veteran journalist, first spotted the body at his house.

None was arrested and the reason behind the murder is yet to be known, the OC said.

The veteran photo journalist received 'Ekushey Padak' in 2006.
