Dell Inspiron N7537
The Dell Inspiron series was, so far, missing the mark to be honest; just not enough to turn heads. But it seems that the Dell Inspiron 7000 Series, N7537 Core -i3 is boldly stepping outside the 'almost' box and reaching the potential that we expect from Dell. But is it really up there yet?
'A good-looker'
It's a beautiful laptop, indeed! It radiates a premium feel due to its matte finish aluminum lid and smoothly rounded edges. Once you open it up, it does not disappoint. The sleek and sexy diamond cut edges only add to the captivating feel of the laptop. But it is rather heavy at a bulky 5.06 pounds.
The keyboard is beautifully backlit making the small keys look prominent. While this keyboard is a massive improvement to its predecessors, sadly still, the 'travel' is 'almost' fine; could've easily been better. Also, and this may vary person to person, the keys felt a bit more soft than preferred. This may mean that your typing experience will be a bit uncomfortable at first but on the bright side, the layout and spacing is probably the best you can find. The touch pad is big enough (4.2 X 3.2 inch) to allow multi-finger gesture and the left and right clickers are marked clearly. Over all, your touch experience will be the kind of silky you'd want.
Then there is of course the 720p webcam which you will notice the moment you open it. It is, well, 'okay' I suppose. There is a lot of noise and blurred out details, also the color comes out a bit faded.
The 'Almost' great display
The 15.6-inch screen carries a 1366x768 display; a tad disappointed? In the contemporary world of laptops and smart phones, not having a full HD display seems like a huge and surprising miss. But if you keep that thought aside, the display is actually pretty nice. It gives clear, crisp images and the rich colors aid the whole movie experience. On the flipside, while some may not be bothered by this; the viewing angles are rather poor. If you try to look at the screen from an angle greater than 45 degrees, you will see severe color distortions and reflections. Moreover, another complain regarding the laptop's display is that it lacks over-all brightness, making it a bit hard and frankly quite annoying to use it outdoors in broad daylight.
The real deal: Performance
I'll tell you this, this laptop, unlike most of us, can handle a bucket-load of pressure! To begin, 5400-rpm hard drive boots windows 8 in a lightning fast 10 seconds. Needless to say, an acceptable amount of multi-tasking will be just that much easier thanks to the 1.7GHz i3 core. When file transfer tests were carried out, it showed us that its transfer rate is 30.7MBps which, while truly very good, fails to reach the 44MBPs average. I should tell you though, you must realize that you will not feel these numbers in practical use; in fact, you will be rather satisfied by the performance of this device. This laptop comes with an accelerator: Intel HD Graphics 4400 which is located in midrange and should easily cope with most pre-modern games.
The battery seems to be performing quite well too. It lasted a whopping 9 hours and 26 minutes in our test trial which we find amusing. Comparing with other laptops in the range we find it is approximately 3 hours more than the average.
Another area of good performance is the audio. While it produces awesome sound with its skull candy speakers, we still find the bass average and think it should be a bit deeper.
Heating issues
I don't know about you, but how often a laptop overheats is one of the first things I tend to be concerned about because this problem can really get to your nerves. The good thing is, this laptop has one large vent and two smaller vents which obviously help with heating issues. Moreover, the rubber stands or 'feet' help keep your laptop cool when you place it on, say, your lap. When tested by LaptopMag, the space between the keys 'g' and 'h' showed 86 degrees which is fine really, but the space beneath the laptop's main vent proved to be otherwise a little too hot at a 'do not touch' 96 degrees.

VERDICTS
Honestly, I would recommend this laptop to anyone really. The stunning, minimalistic looks, the strong build and brilliant performance all adds up to what I would call a 'great' laptop. I won't deny that it has a number of unpleasant drawbacks, but the point is for you, at least it should be, to find a device that strikes a balance between great looks, performance and price; and from what I have understood, this is the one to go for.
