Yunus freed from inhuman captivity
Physically challenged Yunus Ali of Munshipara village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore finally got freed from chains tied to a tree on Wednesday night, thanks to the initiative of the local administration following media reports.
Yunus, 55, son of late Fazlu Biswas of the village had been kept chained to a jackfruit tree on the bank of a pond for four months by his son and daughter-in-law. He had to stay there day and night, even during storm and rain.
He was still wearing an iron chain when Monirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Obaidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Monirampur Police Station Mokarram Hossain and local union parishad Chairman Gazi Mohammad Ali reached the spot at 9:00pm on Wednesday.
After freeing Yunus and taking him to a room of the house, the UNO announced that he will get a beneficiary card meant for disabled people.
He asked the family to take care about proper food and clothing for Yunus.
The official also said that a new house would be built for Yunus.
Yunus expressed gratitude to the media people for publishing news on him, which led to his rescue.
