Women vow to resist child marriage

Women of three villages in Patuakhali Sadar upazila have vowed to resist child marriage in their families and areas as well.

Sahida Begum, district women and children affairs officer, yesterday conducted the oath at the office of Itbaria Palli Samaj, a non-governmental organisation (NGO). 

At least 130 women under social empowerment programme of Brac, Itbaria Palli Samaj, Durgapur Palli Samaj and Sharikkhali Palli Samaj, took oath at the office.

Sakhina Begum, chairman of Durgapur Palli Samaj, and Md Nasir Uddin, district manager of Brac, spoke at the programme.

Sahida said "As child marriage brings various bad impacts on families and society, we will try our best to resist it."
