Woman beaten dead 'by husband'

A housewife, left untreated for four days after brutal torture allegedly by her husband, died at her house of Hobirbari Maruashala in Bhaluka upazila under the district early yesterday.

The victim was Majeda Khatun, 45, wife of Helal Uddin of Hobirbari Maruashala.

“Helal, son of late Omar Khan, beat his wife Majeda mercilessly four days ago over family feuds and left her untreated. Majeda, mother of three children, succumbed to her injuries early today,” Md Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Bhaluka Police Station, said quoting locals and family sources.

“Informed, police sent the body to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The body bore several injury marks. The victim's son Nazmul Haque filed a murder case against his father Helal and police arrested Helal,” he said.
