War crimes evidence found against 14 Bagerhat men
The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has claimed to have found evidence against 14 Bagerhat men for their alleged involvement in crimes committed during the Liberation War.
They were allegedly involved in killing 22 people, confinement, torture, abduction, looting of around 50 houses, raping four women in Kachua and Morrelgang upazilas in Bagerhat district.
Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator of the agency, and Sanaul Huq, co-coordinator of the agency, revealed the information at a press briefing at its Dhanmondi office today.
The 14 are Khan Ashraf Ali, 65, Khan Akram Hossain, 60, Sultan Ali Khan, 68, Rustam Ali Mollah, 70, Irdis Ali Mollah, 64, Moksed Ali Didar, 83, Sheikh Mohammad Ukiluddin, 62, Sheikh Idris Ali, 61, Rafiqul Islam allies Babul, 64, Moniruzzaman Hawlader, 69, Hashem Ali Sheikh, 79, Azhar Ali Sikder, 64, Mokbul Mollah, 79, and Abdul Ali Mollah.
Of them--- Akram Hossain, Irdis Ali Mollah, Sheikh Mohammad Ukiluddin and Mokbul Mollah--- are in custody while the rest are absconding, said ICT Investigation Agency coordinator.
All except Azhar Ali Sikder are supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami, the coordinator said.
“The report will be handed over to the ICT chief prosecutor office later in the day,” he said.
