Underage marriage foiled

Two girls were saved from underage marriage in two unions under Boalmari upazila of the district on Sunday.

Marriages of Nupur Akter, 11, daughter of Jahid Mollah and a Class V student at Hasamdia Government Primary School, and Jannati Akter, 13, daughter of Zillu Mollah and a Class VIII student of Rangamulakandi Haji Abdulla Academy, were fixed to be held on Monday.

Informed, Executive Magistrate Md Anisur Jaman went to the brides' houses and told the guardians not to hold the marriages.
