Two school kids rescued 2 hours into abduction
Two schoolboys, abducted from Babupara area in Mirpur upazila on Monday, were rescued from the district town two hours into their abduction.
The victims are Alif Hasan, 12, son of Mohammad Jhantu, and Kafi Mahmud, 12, son of Abdul Mamun of Chitholia village. Both are Class V students at Poradah Nutun Kuri Kindergarten in Mirpur upazila.
Quoting the victims, Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of Kushtia Model Police Station, said a gang of masked criminals waylaid the two boys near Babupara field, forcibly picked them up into a black microbus around 3:30pm and took them to Kushtia town.
As the gang members stopped the microbus in front of a tea stall in Courtpara area of the town to have tea around 5:30pm, Kafi, one of the abductees, came out of the vehicle and screamed for help.
Sensing danger, the gang quickly got into the vehicle, pushed Alif into the street and fled the scene.
Being informed, police rescued the boys and took them to the police station. They were later handed over to their parents the same night.
Away in Sherpur, a schoolboy, who was abducted from Shaheed Darog Ali Park in the town on August 2, still remains traceless, reports a correspondent.
The victim is Arafat Islam alias Rahat, 8, a Class I student of Biplob-Lopa Memorial School in the town and son of wood trader Shahidul of Gridanarayanpur area in the town.
Following a case filed by the victim's father with Sadar Police Station yesterday, police arrested two people, suspecting their involvement in the abduction.
The arrestees are Abdul Latif, 22, son of Motiur Rahman of Boyraporanpur village under Sadar upazila, and Robin, 20, son of Faruk Mia of the village.
