Two journos hurt in attack

Two newsmen were injured in an attack by miscreants at Benapole Land Port yesterday.

The injured are Jessore reporter Ziaul Haque and video journalist Sharif Khan of Independent Television. They were admitted to Jessore General Hospital.

When a group of port workers brought out a procession, a bomb blasted in the area, said police.

On information, the two journalists went to cover the news when a gang attacked them and destroyed their camera, said the victims.

Port sources said there had been a longstanding conflict between the members of two Sramik unions of the port over establishing dominance there.

Meanwhile, members of Jessore Press Club at a rally protested the attack.
