Tungipara clash death toll rises to two

Another man, who sustained injuries in Sunday's clash at Modhukahli village in Gopalganj's Tungipara upazila, died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

With him, the death toll rose to two, said OC Md Firoj Alam of Tungipara Police Station.

The deceased was Habibul Sheikh, 28, son of Nawab Ali Sheikh of the village.

Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Abul Kalam Montu Sheikh, 60, and Babul Sheikh over a land near Montu's house.

On Sunday, Montu asked Babul not to throw water towards his house. As a sequel, Montu's and Babul's men locked in a clash, which left 16 people of both sides injured. Seriously injured Montu later died at a hospital.
