Towel in woman's belly!

Believe it or not, a delivery patient carried a towel inside her abdomen for three months after her caesarean section at a private hospital in Habiganj town.

The victim, Mollika Das, 38, wife of Sanjeeb Sarkar of Kakailseo village in Azmeriganj upazila of Habiganj, was saved from a life threatening situation as the towel was brought out after an operation on Saturday.

“My wife was admitted to Chander Hasi Hospital for a caesarean on August 23. There Dr SK Ghosh conducted her operation. After a few days, she started feeling severe pain in her abdomen and was again taken to the hospital,” said Sanjeeb Sarkar, now residing in the district town.

“The doctor gave several tests for Mollika and the results showed something inside her belly. On Saturday afternoon, Dr Abul Kalam conducted an operation and brought out a towel from her belly,” he said.

“We were surprised to find a whole towel inside the patient's belly,” said Dr Kalam.

Dr SK Ghosh said, “It may have happened mistakenly.”

Habiganj Civil Surgeon Suchinto Chowdhury said, “I have not received any complaint regarding the incident yet. If complaint is lodged, action will be taken after investigation.”
