Thirty injured in Moulvibazar clash

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over occupying a CNG-run auto-rickshaw stand in Habiganj's Baniachang upazila on Sunday.

Of the injured, 15 were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital with severe injuries while the rest were treated at Baniachang Upazila Health Complex.

Quoting local people, police said there had been a longstanding rivalry between one Joyful Mia of Gunoi village in the upazila and Salamat Mia over establishing supremacy in the area and taking control over the auto-stand.

As a sequel to the enmity, both the groups, equipped with bamboo sticks and fishing spears, attacked each other on Sunday evening that left 30 people from both the sides injured.

On information, police went to the spot and dispersed the clashing groups, Officer-in-Charge of Baniachang Police Station Mozammel Haque said.
