Teenager raped, now denied education in Habiganj
A seventh grader who was raped four months back, has now been denied her right to education after she was not allowed to sit for her exams at a school in Habiganj.
The teenager hailing from Bhadeswar union in Bahubal upazila was allegedly raped by two youths on the night of July 20 two days after she went missing.
Contacted, Headmaster Ayub Ali of Shahjalal High School in the union said the school authorities have decided not to take her back to the school, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports.
“We will not accept her in this school as she is a girl of bad character and there will be negative impact on the other students,” said Ayub Ali.
The girl was allured into the prospect of a job in Habiganj city by one Fatema Akther, according to the UP Chairman Kamruzzaman Bashir who also added that her family is extremely poor and her father cannot bear the family expenses.
“Two youths in conspiracy with Fatema Akter, a woman from the neighbouring village, picked up the teenage girl and raped her,” the UP Chairman claimed.
The villagers found her in an unconscious state on July 21, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting the victim’s father and the UP chairman.
On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge of Bahubal Police Station Mohammad Monirujjaman said he did not receive complaints regarding the school authorities’ decision in denying her schooling and police will take action after they receive complaints.
The OC was posted at the Bahubal Police Station after the rape occurred, he said.
