Suspect confesses crime
Tuhin Hossain, key suspect in the case for killing three of a family in Bera upazila early Wednesday, confessed before a Pabna court yesterday about his involvement in the triple murder.
He admitted his involvement in the murders before the Judicial Magistrate's Court-3 under section 164 yesterday noon, police said.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Bera circle) Ashis Bin Hasan said a team of police, acting on a tip-off, raided Bejerdanga village in Khulna's Phultola upazila early yesterday and arrested Tuhin.
Quoting Tuhin's statement, police told journalists he killed his mother, brother and aunt in a bid to take revenge for their alleged misbehaviour with his wife Runa Akter.
The deceased are Tuhin's mother Buly Khatun, 48, brother Tushar, 10, and aunt Mariam Begum, 50, of Sonapadma village in Bera upazila.
Following a love affair, Tuhin married Runa of the same village about nine months ago.
As he was unemployed for long the couple were often neglected by the family, police said, adding that his aunt Mariam often misbehaved with his wife and also instigated his mother to do the same.
Angered by such behaviour, Tuhin hacked his aunt with a machete at her room early Wednesday, quoting the statement police said, adding that he also hacked his mother and younger brother when they rushed to the spot and tried to resist him.
Mizanur Rahman, brother of slain Buly and Mariam, filed a murder case with Bera Police Station on Thursday accusing unidentified people on Thursday.
