Storm damages 200 houses
Nor'wester swept through Moulvibazar and Sylhet in the last two days, damaging hundreds of houses.
At least 200 houses were damaged as the heavy storm lashed Kulaura and Kamalganj upazilas in Moulvibazar on Tuesday, reports our correspondent.
The storm accompanied by hail and rain damaged Irri-boro paddy and uprooted a good number of trees and electric poles in the areas.
Palli Bidyut Samity reinstalled the electric poles and restored power supply in the upazilas yesterday noon, said Bakhor Ali Khan, chairman of Prithimpasha Union Parishad.
Azizur Rahman, chairman of Moulvibazar district council, said he talked with the higher authorities about relief for the people affected by the storm.
Meanwhile, nor'wester hit some villages in Sylhet Sadar upazila yesterday, destroying a number of homesteads.
It also uprooted many trees, said reports our correspondent.
At least 170 families have been affected due to the storm, said Md Delwar Hossain, chairman of Khadimnagar Union Parishad.
