Speedy trial of grocer Yakub's killers sought

Hundreds of people in Kasba upazila yesterday demanded arrest of the killers of trader Yakub Mia and their trial under the Speedy Trial Act.

They made the demands at a human chain programme at Kharera Bazar and also brought out a protest procession in the town.

On January 10, one Ibrahim Mia and his men swooped on Yakub Mia, a grocer, and stabbed him to death over a land dispute.

Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot, caught Ibrahim and gave him a good beating before handing him over to the police.

Deceased's father Mizan Mia filed a case with Kasba Police Station accusing six people, including Ibrahim, the following day.
