'Rise High Bangladesh' at DhakaUniversity
The export idea contest 'Rise High Bangladesh' reached the highest echelon of academic excellence of Bangladesh, University of Dhaka, on August 28, 2016. Despite rain, the programme started timely at the campus of the Business Administration department.
The venue was decked with banners and posters which contained details on the contest. Moreover, volunteers were present to provide any information on the contest and offer detailed information about the activation programme. Unsurprisingly, the most appealing and enjoyed part of the programme was the puzzle-solving game, which attracted a large number of participants. As was the case with other campuses over the country, this game also achieved immense popularity at DhakaUniversity. Particpants were required to pick a clue card, containing export information of an unnamed country; all they had to do was identify the country.
The exuberance of the youth in participating in such contests that encourage new thought and generate fresh ideas was very evident.
When asked what he thought about the contest, SaifulHasan, a student of Business Management, said, “It is a new idea and I think such contests can contribute to the enhancement of our potential.”
After winning the puzzle solving contest, Santa Sharmin of the Public Administration department expressed excitedly, “I got a clue card containing information about an oil exporting country of Europe. I successfully recognized it as Russia!”
Md. MuntasirUddinMunna of the Economics department informed that he had already thought up ofdifferent ideas to expand exports, while Tamanna Rashid of the Finance Department has already chosen ‘processed foods’ as her export-idea topic
.
Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS ArefinSiddique welcomed the ‘Rise High Bangladesh’ initiative.Terming it an appropriate step, he said, “Creativity is a noble quality. I appreciate any measure that promotes the creative faculty of the youth. I hope this event will motivate our students to think about the economic progress of the country."
After completing a successful activation at the University of Dhaka, the ‘Rise High Bangladesh’ export idea contest will soon move ahead to the next selected campus. However, students from any university may participate at the event with their export ideas.
