'Resume gas supply to fertilizer factory'

Workers and employees of Ashuganj Fertilizer Company Ltd in the district yesterday held a human chain to press for their two-point demand including resumption of gas supply to the factory and implementation of wage commission for the fertiliser factory workers.

Babul Mia, president of CBA at Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory, presided over the human chain programme that was held following an hour-long demonstration in front of the factory's main gate.

Farid Uddin, general secretary of fertilizer factory CBA, vice presidents Saifuddin Farooqi and Haji Taimur Rahman were present.

Speakers said Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited stopped gas supply to Ashuganj fertilizer factory on April 3 last year and since then fertilizer production has remained stopped there.

The CBA leaders threatened to block the highways and railways if gas supply is not resumed as early as possible.
