Rescue my son
Mother of a 'missing' 15-year-old boy yesterday urged the police administration to rescue her son from alleged kidnappers immediately.
Minara Khatun, mother of Mehedi Hasan Babu, made the appeal at a press conference at Mymensingh Press Club.
Minara, a resident of Shibpur village in Phulbaria upazila, said Babu, who appeared at the SSC examinations from Polashihata High School in the upazila this year, went out of his house on March 6 and did not return home.
'We searched for Babu in every possible place but could not trace him," Minara said.
The following day, Minara received a message from her son's mobile phone demanding Tk 6 lakh for his safe return and not to disclose the matter to others, she said, adding that since then Babu's phone was found switched-off.
Later, Babu's uncle Abdul Motaleb filed a general diary (GD) with Phulbaria Police Station the same day.
Following the filing of the GD, police detained Mohammad Tushar, 19, an HSC examinee of the same village, on March 12, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and took him on a two-day remand.
Officer-in-Charge of Phulbaria Police Station Sheikh Kabirul Islam said, during police interrogation, Tushar admitted that although he and Babu travelled to Dhaka together in the same bus, Babu got down from the vehicle in Kuril Biswa Road area in the capital.
Tushar was later released after securing bail on April 1, the OC said.
