Refrain from publicity for militants: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque has asked all not to carry out any direct or indirect publicity in favour of banned militant outfits in the social media.
The IGP made the call in a press statement expressing his gratitude to the citizens for their spontaneous participation in anti-militant activities in the recent times.
Shahidul Hoque said, some people have been continuing direct or indirect campaign upholding activities of the banned militant organisations in different social media including blogs, and other online platforms though giving their likes, making share and comments.
According to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act 2013, Anti-Terrorism (amended) Act 2013 and other existing laws of the land, such activities will be treated as punishable offence, he said.
The police chief also sought all out cooperation from people of different classes and professions to eliminate the menace of militancy from the country.
