Rangamati BCL factions clash
Five students of both sides were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Rangamati Government College yesterday.
They are Sabbir Rahman, 22, Dipankar Dey, 22, Najim Uddin, 21, Hasan Murad, 19, and Nur Nabi, 19. They have been admitted to Rangamati General Hospital.
Ritan Chakma, an eyewitness, said a group of BCL men went to the college and beat up another group of BCL men, creating panic among the students.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
Sultan Mahmud Bappa, president of Rangamati Government College BCL, said two rival groups of activists clashed in the college.
Principal of the college Jafor Ahmed said the college authorities have told the students not to get involved in conflicts in the college campus.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Rashid said the clash took place between two groups of BCL. Police brought the situation control and additional police have been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident, he added.
