Prime target Musa flees: Home minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said that the prime target of the raid at the militant den in Ashkona of Dhaka managed to flee the scene.
“Our main target was Musa, who had rented the flat. He somehow managed to flee the scene,” the minister told reporters at the spot after end of the drive this afternoon.
The minister, however, hoped that the law enforcers would be able to capture him (Musa) soon.
‘Woman detonates suicide vest to kill herself’
The woman, wife of one Sumon, suddenly announced that she along with a child was coming out of the house. But the law enforcers noticed that she tied a suicide vest containing live grenade at her waist, Kamal said.
“She was requested not to come with the suicide vest. But, at one stage, she blew it off, leaving her dead on the spot and the child injured critically,” the minister told reporters.
Then, the law enforcers took the child to hospital without delay, he added.
Meanwhile, a teenager, who was also found dead later, began exploding grenades after law enforcers lobbed several rounds of tear gas canisters targeting the building.
After sometime, the whole area went silent and law enforcers found his body lying inside the house, the minister said.
“We are examining the whole situation,” the minister said after the drive ended around 3:45pm.
