The prime accused in the case for the brutal murder of teenage boy Sagor Mia was put on a five-day remand after he was produced before a Mymensingh court with a remand prayer for 10 days yesterday afternoon.
A team of Rab-14 arrested the accused, Akkas Ali, 45, of Charsirampur village in Mymensingh’s Gouripur upazila, from Shambhupur rail crossing in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj early Friday and later handed him over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
“In primary interrogation, Akkas confessed to his involvement in the killing,” said Ashiqur Rahman, OC of DB in Mymensingh.
On Monday morning, Akkas and his associates beat to death Sagor, 18, son of Shipon Mia of Natokghar Lane Railway Colony area in Mymensingh town, over an allegation of his attempt to steal a water pump from Akkas' fish hatchery at Charsirampur.
On Tuesday, the victim's father filed a case with Gouripur Police Station against 12 people including Akkas, his four brothers and an employee. The case was later transferred to the DB.
