Power supply on Ashuganj-Sirajganj grid off

Power supply to the Sirajganj-Ashuganj grid remains suspended following last night’s nor’wester in and around Meghna river area of Kishoreganj.

The power supply in many areas including Sirajganj district has been hampered after river-crossing 230KV tower was damaged in Kishoreganj district’s Bhairab upazila, a Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting AS Sajjadur Rahman, managing director of Ashuganj Power Station.

“The tower was damaged in the storm,” the managing director said.

UNB adds: The grid failures led to shutdown in a vast area of Khulna, Barisal, Rajshahi and Rangpur division since last night following failure of two major grid transmission lines.
