Poacher held with tiger bones, skull

Forest Department officials in a drive arrested a poacher with 157 bones and skull of a tiger and a deer-hunting trap weighing 15 kg at Uttar Sonatala village in Sharonkhola upazila yesterday.
The arrestee is Sagir Gharami, 38, son of Yusuf Ali Gharami of the village.
A team of forest officials, acting on a tip-off, raided the house of Sagir and arrested him in the morning, said Kamal Uddin Ahmed, assistant forest conservator of Sharankhola range of the Sundarbans.
According to the statement of Sagir, they also seized the bones, skull of Royal Bengal Tiger and the deer-hunting trap from a pond near his house.
During preliminary interrogation, Sagir said a gang killed a tiger in the Sundarbans six months ago and kept its bones and skull at his house, said Kamal Uddin.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
